Gonzales, a small town located in southeastern Texas, may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of great barbecue, but the Gonzales Food Market at 311 Saint Lawrence St is a hidden gem that should not be missed. In fact, one reviewer claims that it is the “best barbecue restaurant in the world” and I wouldn’t argue with them. As a child going traveling back and forth through southeast Texas, we would often stop to get some Gonzales bbq particularly their sausage. My dear granny, rest her soul would often put a request in for us to bring her a few pounds of links.

While the Gonzales Food Market may be off the beaten path for some, it is definitely worth the drive for those who appreciate top-quality barbecue.
